Turn the radio back on, I found some good music!
Welcome to another edition of Real Talk – The Entertainment Report. In last month’s edition I advised the readers to turn off the radio due to the corrupting and devilish lyrics of today’s top 40 songs which reminds us of one of Cain’s son Jubal who created the same type of evil music that you hear today on the radio after his father Cain was kicked out of the Garden and became wicked (Genesis 4:21). But just the other day I actually came across some great sounding and positive Hip Hop and R&B music! Can you believe it?
Let me give you the names of these groups and my personal favorite songs of theirs:
Byzantine Kings
1. The Byzantine Kings, “You Gotta Luv Me”/”Shine on The World” – these two songs can easily be candidates for the summertime anthem of 2008. From what I know about this group it’s about 5 to 6 brothers from the areas of NYC, Philly, Baltimore and Allentown that transform and come together like Voltron (for all you 80’s babies). I’ve heard that they also won the Underground Music Award for Group of the Year too. Just take a listen to these cats’ lyrics and you will see for yourself that they are truly gifted and blessed artists. “I’ma shine without P.Diddy snitching on me,” yo, this line is crazy! Don’t be afraid……To let your light…….Shine on the World. The sistas on the hook are serious!
Byzantine Queens
2. The Byzantine Queens, “God calls it love” – the sisters on this song remind me of the female groups from back in the day. They have class and they sing from the heart. I caught these sistas in concert in NYC a couple of months ago and their performance bought a tear to my eye and that’s not easy to do you know.

The Maccabees
3. The Maccabees, “1,000 Years with Christ” – after listening to this song I was hype and hopeful about reigning a thousand years with Christ! These brothers are for real in a world of muscle bound pseudo tough rapper guy groups.
4. Darakyaahla, “Welcome to God’s Wrath” – now I’m not too much into reggae music (no disrespect) but this remix of “Welcome to Jamrock” is on point. When I first heard this song I played it at least 10 times with a hard head nod. And the brother is teaching throughout the song and explaining that it’s God that is causing the numerous tornadoes, hurricanes, storms, earthquakes and tsunamis that are plaguing the earth and not so-called mother nature. I give this song two thumbs up.

Young Jedi
5. Young Jedi, “Esau getting Murked” – I like this song. I’m not a fan of the “down south type” of song but this song has grown on me. Plus the hook is crazy! For all those that are not familiar with whom Esau is please read Genesis 25:21-25, Romans 9:10-16, Hebrews 12:16, 17 and Obadiah verses 9 & 10.
B II M
Boyz II Men
And my Quiet Storm pick is Boyz II Men. Come on, these brothers are from another planet when it comes to singing. “The Color of Love,” “Waters run dry,” “On bended knee.” If ever there were men on earth blessed with the voices of Angels these brothers would be the number one choice. 80 million records sold. Multiple Grammy Awards. The most successful Motown group of all time! Hands down, Boyz II Men are truly the “best that ever did it.” For more information on the groups that I mentioned in this column try doing a Google, Yahoo and MySpace search. Also, you can visit my favorite website on the net at www.thecomforter.info and launch the MP3 player and listen to full songs.
Until next time love God (by keeping his Commandments), love your family and your people, love yourself and repent (change) because the kingdom of Heaven is at hand. Email me with your comments at yawasap@mainstream-press.com. And thank you for all of the comments you have sent me thus far (positive & negative). And a big shout out to my two biggest fans (and you know who you are, wink).
