What’s wrong with getting cosmetic surgery? What’s right about it?!

Why do the rich and famous of our people go to the extreme when it comes to obtaining a certain look? And why do these celebrities think that the average intelligent person out here doesn’t realize or recognize that they have made changes to their faces and bodies? Maybe these vain, misguided celebrities are in denial. Maybe some of you who are reading this article wish you had enough money to make changes to yourself? What was wrong with the way God created you? If HE, yes HE, created man in his image shouldn’t that be good enough? Who told Michael Jackson, LaToya Jackson and Lil Kim that they could change, more like disfigure, their faces and lighten their skin? Who told Halle Berry she could change her nose? What was wrong with Janet Jackson and Vivica A. Fox’s breasts before their implants? From certain photo angles, you can see dents in their chests. I why did former Miss America Vanessa Williams need botox injections in her face? What was wrong with her face anyway? The question is would God approve of all these changes? Let’s go to the Holy Bible and see.

In Matthew 5:36 Jesus Christ instructs us in the following manner: “neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.” God can make changes because he created us but we are not to make cosmetic, plastic or unnatural changes to our bodies or appearance. Furthermore, the Apostle Paul instructs us in 1 Corinthians 3:16,17: verse 16, know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? Verse 17, If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are. How do man and woman defile their temples or their bodies? By printing artwork on their bodies (tattoos, see Leviticus 19:28), breast implants, buttock implants, nose jobs, face-lifts, botox, steroids, etc. Then the Apostle Paul backs up his statements in 1 Corinthians 6:19,20 when he stated: verse 19, What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? Verse 20, For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. Our bodies don’t belong to us; they belong to Christ so we cannot do what we want with our bodies. Regardless of how much money or power you have to make the changes, you are not authorized by God to make any. Remember, in Genesis 1:27 God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. Let’s keep things the way God intended.

Cosmetic surgery has gotten so bad that California assemblywoman Wilmer Amina Carter has announced legislation to require preoperative clearance for all patients undergoing cosmetic surgery. This proposal, dubbed the “Donda West Law“ in memory of Kanye West’s Mother who died of complications after have cosmetic surgery, is meant to save patients from future harm done by cosmetic surgery, and has been given the blessing by Kanye West (according to the Daily Bulletin). Cosmetic surgery is vain, bottom line. Proverbs 31:30 states: Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
